The weekend ahead - Halloween!

So, I have tomorrow off so I can spend the day making caramel apples and putting my booth together for the Queen Valley Fall Festival. It's going to be a lot of fun. My mom has several musicians coming, tons of food vendors as well as arts and crafts vendors. There will be Alexis' mini petting zoo and games for the little ones. I hope the weather stays nice and it doesn't get too windy....
Tomorrow evening is the birthday party for my best friends daughter. It is a costume party so the twins will be wearing their adorable turkey costume all weekend!! Sunday we will make some carne asada and hand out candy. My sister and her bf are coming and my parents might too.
Who doesn't want to get candy from these two...
 This is just a teaser
We tried their costumes on them a few weeks ago
Luckily Halloween is this week because they just fit into them
I'm sure I will take at least 100 more pics of them in these costumes over the
next few days!!

Another Interview

We met with the second home daycare provider yesterday. Let me just say, these ladies were wonderful. I'm not saying the first lady was bad, but, when we asked her about daily activities she seemed surprised. I mean, I know they're just babies, but I want someone taking care of them who will do more then sit them down in front of the tv. The ladies from yesterday are a mother - daughter team who have have their daycare open for nine years, and, they have the same children since they opened. Our babies would pretty much be the only ones most days, which is also nice. They have a schedule for activities and tons of toys and space for playing. The only issue is the price. So, I think we are going to have to adjust our budget because I can't imagine picking a different provider just because I didn't want to fork out the money.

Babysitters

While I was pregnant I dreamed about staying home with the babies. I tried to figure out a plan to make it happen, but, it just was not possible. As much as I hate leaving them every morning, it is nice to get out of the house and see other adults too. If I had my way, I would work a couple days a week for a few hours, but I live in the real world. So, I go to work M-F and miss my babies for 9 hours each day. Big sad face:(

It is really hard to decide who will take care of your children when you're away. For the past 6 months we have been using a friend of the family. Luckily, it is only two days a week, because it is pricey! She actually comes to the house, but, as nice is she is, it's just not working out anymore. In the beginning, we really liked the comforting feeling of having someone at our home with the babies. If something happens all she has to do is wake Gabe up. We soon realized, though, as nice as it is, there is still someone else in your home. That person may or may not like to rearrange your kitchen or pantry if she does not like its current state. Besides the babies are becoming more active and since Gabe is actually home sleeping during the day ( cause he works nights, not because he's lazy,) it is harder for him to sleep. We have other reasons as well, but, I won't get into them now.

Change is always scary.  Gabe and I have one main worry, right now the twins get so much personal attention, and they may not get that somewhere else? That makes me a little sad and I honestly feel so guilty.

The woman we interviewed today was very nice and we both liked her. She will have her two small grandchildren in the home as well. I think it will be nice for the twins to have other children to play with. We have another interview tomorrow.  But even after a good interview, how well can you really know someone? Do you really know anyone well enough to leave your children with them? UGH! We'll see how it goes....

Ugh Mondays

Over the weekend I completed most of my to-do list. The twins and I actually had a pretty good weekend. We walked every morning, they napped on a regular schedule and we went to the mall. I was able to prime both of my tables and clean most of the house. I did about 6 loads of laundry and actually folded it all and put it away! I completed the baby shower invitations and mailed most of them, still waiting on some addresses.
The babies have been so much better at just playing in their play penned area. Roman is so funny, he'll lay on his stomach with his favorite toy of the moment and tap on foot. It's the cutest thing. Vivienne still isn't crawling but she is scooting along on her butt. We haven't witnessed this, but if we set her down in one spot, we'll come back to find her in another.
We've found that Roman is hat guy...
 Being cute as usual
My favorite hat, whenever we take him somewhere in this hat, people just can't get enough!
Oh, yeah, Roman is pulling himself up now, not sure I like this. Gabe will be lowering the mattress this week.
Still cute, she is always sucking on her lips?
This is the foot tapping position, so cute!

This Weekend

Gabe left this afternoon for his annual hunting trip, he won't be back until Sunday. So I took tomorrow off, so I can hang with the babies, and because I don't have a sitter. I have a million things I could do this weekend; clean every room in the house, finish invitations for the baby shower I'm throwing, to do the last one I"ll need to run to the store to buy ink for the printer.  Lets see, painting either of the two tables I have sitting in the garage, work out, give poor Maggie a bath, shop for pants and shoes for work. I still have a lot to lose, but I bought clothes right as I returned to work that are now way too big and baggy but I've been wearing them for 2 months without buying new ones. I guess I wanted to wait until I lose a little more, but I might end up waiting forever. Also, I used to buy myself shoes, um, weekly, now the two pairs I wear all the time are falling apart. It's time to upgrade, but it's hard to buy stuff for myself anymore.

Anyway, there's not a million things, but enough to keep me busy and I doubt I'll get it all done. BTW, Roman is hilarious. He just crawled into the office, and he stops and looks at every item in the house, then he'll look at me and smile. So Cute. Also cute, earlier the twins were in their cribs and I could hear Roman "talking" and then Vivienne would start laughing. I think he was telling her jokes again:)

Schnepf Farms

Today we celebrated my little sister Alexis' birthday by going to Schnepf Farms. It's a small little place with a petting zoo, carnival type rides, food and a pumpkin patch. It was fun, but still a bit hot in AZ for outdoor activities past 10am. Seriously, when will this heat end?!
The babies aren't really into this type of stuff. But, Vivienne did think the stinky goats were pretty funny and was giggling at them.

8 Months

I've been a little behind and forgot to post an 8 month update. Roman as you know is crawling around the house like a crazy man. We purchased a baby gate that provides ample crawling space. Of course, this is not good enough so he has learned to break him self out. He actually gets on his back and kicks it until he opens it up a bit then flips onto his stomach and crawls out! I'm certain he will be standing up very soon. Now, when he is on all fours, he will kick one leg out and try to push himself up. This guys is to big for his britches!
Vivienne, is not crawling yet but is finally rolling over on a regular basis. She is quite content to just sit on the floor and play we her toys. Seriously, we prop her up in bobby, and she will sit there laughing at everything we do and her toys and at Roman. She is so easy going. She loves when I sing to her and she has also started giving kisses. Which would be awesome if she didn't always have a mouth full of drool!

The other day Gabe called me in the living room, I could hear both babies 'talking,' Roman was on his knees talking to Vivi and she was laughing. He must be telling her some funny jokes.

What I'm Doing Now

I don't have much to report right now. I've been too busy this week to start work on the home 'projects' I've lined up for myself. I'm exhausted right now, but, both babies are asleep and Gabe is at school. So, I'm taking advantage of my alone time to scour the internets :)
My eyes are actually burning from looking at the computer but I can't pull myself away. I probably should have used this time to clean the kitchen or maybe soak in the tub. Unfortunatley, I have a new obsession with Craigslist! I blame my husband for this, so does he. I'm still looking for dining chairs, a round coffee table, and perhaps a new stroller for the twins. Just browsing though, they will need a side-by-side eventually, but not quite yet.
I still haven't found my camera, so I can't take pictures or post the ones I've already taken. I feel like a zombie right now.
Ok, dirty dishes, here I come...

Weekend Wrap Up

Oh my goodness, we had such a great time in Prescott Friday! The babies were SO good too. I was so happy that they were in a good mood the WHOLE time. The only time we had an issue was when we sat down to eat. Vivienne did not want to stay in the stroller while watching us eat. So we had to hold her. If we weren't in a restaurant, I wouldn't have given in, but that wouldn't be fair to the people around us trying to enjoy their meals. Honestly though, the day went pretty smoothly. We walked around all day, everyone we passed cracked-up at Roman in his new hat. He thought he was so cool!  After lunch we laid in the park for a while so the babies could stretch their legs. Then we went to the antique shops to try and find some dining chairs. No luck, but we did find a cute buffet table thing for only $20 bucks. Now, we have two pieces of furniture to sand and paint but still no where to sit:)

Saturday we visited my parents who love to spoil these two. We were supposed to start work on the table and buffet after wards, but we decided to just lounge around instead. We did make it to Lowe's at least, to buy the supplies. I'll post pics of the table and buffet when I find my camera???

Sunday I went to Phoenix with a couple of co-workers to walk in the Race for the Cure. It was a really nice day and a great event. I'm mad that we didn't get any pictures together though.

Busy Weekend Ahead

I took tomorrow off from work so the four of us can take a trip to Prescott. Gabe and I go there so often and even got married there, but it will be the babies first time. I'm really excited, especially since we've been looking forward to eating Spanish tapas at El Gato Azul for weeks. YUM! We will also be checking out the antique shops. We're on the look out for some dining chairs. The babies are usually pretty good when we take them anywhere, but this will be the first all day trip, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it goes smoothly.
Saturday Gabe is meeting a friend to do some quail hunting, (I'm strongly against this BTW). Then we will meet him at my parents for a visit. After that we will come home and be working on the new dining table I bought. It needs to be sanded and painted.
Then Sunday I am walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with some coworkers. This will probably take up the whole morning once you add in the traffic and parking. After that, I'm looking forward to some lounging and hopefully we can have a nice family dinner at the new table.

1st annual Queen Valley Fall Festival

My mom has been working hard on putting together a fall festival in our little home town of Queen Valley. It will be October 30th 10am-5pm. She has about 20 vendors lined up to sell hand made arts & crafts and of course food. There will also be a petting zoo and games for the little ones. I'm curious to see how it will turn out since it is the first year, but I'm sure it will be great, she's been working so hard. Oh ya, there will also be a small parade, where you might see these two turkeys!

If you are interested in becoming a vendor you can contact Penny at qvfallfestival@gmail.com

Baby Clothes

My mom and I went shopping a few weeks ago and hit up some antique shops in Globe. We found one that had some really cute vintage baby clothes, mostly girl stuff though. Vivienne can only fit into a two outfits right now. The jumper she is wearing below is actually something I found at garage sale for a quarter, I love it, but its a bit small. We only found one shirt for Roman, and my mom called it his Ricky Ricardo shirt. I think he looks like a little man in it.
I like the vintage styles so much because they have more character. A lot of the new clothes they make today are boring and all PINK. I can't wait until Vivienne can wear some of the other stuff we bought, pretty greens and reds.

 Sweetest Face EVER!
