Ya, I'm going to build a play kitchen

I recently purchased this little gem at Savers for $8.15 since they were having a 40% off sale that day.

I plan on making a play kitchen for the twins with it. The ones you can buy at the toy store are so ugly and big. I want to make something cute, that has a bit of personality. I've looked all over the internet for inspiration, and there is plenty! It has some damage on the top but I can fill it in or cover it up. But I hope in the end it will look kinda like this one:

I love the window on this one...

and this one.
You can see a couple others here and here.

I've already purchased a few things while at the Goodwill, the Dollar Store and Hobby Lobby.
I found a bowl at Goodwill and Gabe already cut out the whole. I think I should have used a smaller bowl. I won't have much space left for the 'stove' portion of the kitchen.

Today's broadcast is brought to us by the letter J. I kid I kid.

I'm saw this on several other play kitchens in my research. Turning the letter J or L upside down, and you got yourself a faucet. Found this one at Hobby Lobby for around $4.
I picked these take out containers at the dollar store. I think I'm going to use the lids as 'burners.'

I'm going to use this fabric for the curtains. $6.95 for one yard.

Also from Hobby lobby are these little wood pieces for the stove knobs and I glued two together for the kitchen sink.

End of July?!

Yesterday I was watching the twins eat their dinner. They've been feeding themselves for awhile, but yesterday it hit me. They aren't babies anymore. They were sitting in their high chairs, with their own little plates and their own little forks, eating their turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The most shocking part, how long their legs look dangling from their seats. Made me sad.

They've also been off the bottle for a couple of weeks. For the most part anyway. There may have been a desperate situation at 2 am last week that only a bottle would fix. Other than that, strictly sippy cups. It has actually been a pretty smooth transition. They probably aren't drinking as much milk as before, but not by much.

When it comes to eating they do pretty well for only having front teeth. Roman has 8, 4 on top and 4 on bottom. Vivi only has 5. 4 on top and 1 on bottom, yep, she probably won't be getting those front 2. The dentist warned us back when she was 2 weeks old and he was pulling the 2 she was born with. Anyway, we're pretty darn lucky that these kids eat so well. Actually, they'll eat anything you put in front of them and say MMMM, the whole time. They're pretty much little pigs, which is awesome. I know eating habits can change quickly, but I'm hoping they keep it up.

I can't believe how fast they are growing up. It seems like we were waiting forever for them to start walking, especially Vivi. Now, they are doing laps around the house and climbing over everything in their path. I'm trying to get them to say more real words. I'm not sure why people think it's funny to teach them weird noices to repeat, but not words. Right now, it's mostly, momma, dadda, aye! (my bad), NO ( of course), nana and hi. They've said some other words, but I'm not sure if it was meant to be a word or they were making noises and just happened to get lucky.

We've been feeling bad for them since they are cooped up in the house so much now. It's been well over 100 degrees for awhile so we don't like to drag them out too much. I mentioned that to my parents who of course went out and bought them some new toys:) You can see Roman in his new tent/tunnel below. I'm also working on building a play kitchen for them, which I'll get into detail another day.

One thing I definitely miss about them being smaller is the cuddling. I'm lucky if I can get one of them to cuddle with me for more than 2 whole minutes.

They have their 18 month check up in a few weeks. We'll see if Roman has finally passed his sister in height (I think he might have a chance). I can't believe their going to 18 months old! Where did it go!?

New Photos

We finally had the babies pictures taken in their baptism outfits. My cousin is getting into photography and offered to take them for free. Well, can't say no to that.

They turned out pretty well, unfortunately you can see too much of the houses and playground equipment. Even though the sun was setting it was still pretty hot. The pics towards the end you can see it in their pink cheeks. Vivienne was a little grumpy the whole time but pretty much stayed in one spot. Roman on the other hand was in a great mood and was running all over the green grass.
